Are there too many different passwords to memorize? HD-LDAP connects the program to a directory service (such as Active Directory) which means that unnecessary administration is avoided as user information is automatically gathered and updated from a directory.
User details are updated via a connection to a directory and thus the same login details are used for HelpDesk as for other connected applications, i.e. the same user name and password apply are used.
User information such as name, email address and phone number are also imported through the LDAP connection. Directory updates are performed every time a user logs in to HelpDesk, or when the administrator chooses to import user details from a directory. The update can also be set to occur automatically, for example overnight.
If the network administrator creates a single sign-on environment, users only need to enter their username and password once (when logging on to the computer) to get immediate access to HelpDesk without having to type in the user details again.
