Since it can be difficult to keep the website looking uniform when many people are working on it, templates are highly useful. WebPublish has templates for both content and design which means that it is easy to keep the website looking neat and professional.
There are three kinds of templates:
The basic design of the website is determined early on in the development process. You can choose between letting us create a design for you, using an existing design or hiring a third party to perform the task. Once the basic design has been determined, we will develop a number of layout templates according to your organization’s needs. Usually there is one layout template for the start page and one for content pages. When choosing which layout template to use, you thus decide which variation of the basic design will be used for a specific page.
Layout templates may contain various functions. The layout template for the start page normally has more functions than do the content pages. We also offer the possibility to add and adjust functions to your needs and wants. The following functions are available in the creation of a layout template:
• Latest news – loaded from a news page • Latest news – with a picture/heading • Upcoming events – loaded from an events page • A calendar with upcoming events – loaded from an events page • Latest forum posts • RSS feeds from external pages • Log-in for protected pages • Slideshow or random picture/flash • Dynamically loaded content • Editable space such as page footer • Banners • Search function • Quick links to available pages • Buttons for print, sitemap, search and sending e-mails with links to the website (tell-a-friend)
Several websites can be administered in one license and it is possible to have different layout templates for the different websites. All layout templates are unique and created for each individual website.

Page templates dictate the placement of text, images, links and so on and thus determine the ways that it is possible to work with each page. For each page that is created, a page template is chosen. There are templates for different kinds of content such as text and images, news, events and links. Below you can read about some of our most popular templates. For a complete list, please refer to our product sheet.
Freehand template
The freehand template is a so-called WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor. It makes it easy to create attractive pages without previous knowledge of web publishing. With the freehand template, it is up to the user to choose where to place text, pictures, links and so forth. The editor has the appearance of a word processing program. You write and edit texts and have easy access to the link manager tool, the image archive and the document archive. The toolbar also gives you access to several other functions. In the freehand template it is also possible to alternate between text mode and HTML mode. This gives the advanced user the freedom to work and achieve the best possible results.
News template
The news template makes it easy to create a news feed on the website. Through the use of the template, articles are created and put into a list, a news page. The template contains set fields for elements such as a heading, a preamble and an image, and a freehand template for the body text. The freehand template lets the editor choose the placement of text, additional images and links.
There are also various options for the presentation of news articles on the website. Items can be connected to each other or to the image archive via keywords and so on.
Often the news feed is shown as part of the start page. This must be decided when the website is created and is then put into the layout template.
Event template
The event template is used for presenting upcoming events with texts and pictures, as well as providing summaries of past events. The events can be presented either through the use of a list or in a calendar. The template uses a number of set fields for information such as time and date and a freehand template where the user can add and format other information according to their wishes. In the event template it is also possible to dictate how the information is to be presented on the website, if events are to be connected to each other or to certain images via keywords and so on.
Build your own templates
WebPublish has a flexible template tool for creating page templates and forms. The template tool lets you create customized templates and decide on the placement of headings, text, images and the like. The template then appears in the list of available templates for each new content page. When fixed templates are applied to the website, you create a fixed page structure and a consistent design across the website.
The template tool can also be used to create forms that are then filled out on the website. It is possible to use headings, text and images as well as more advanced features such as checkboxes, radio buttons and freeform fields. Forms can be connected to an e-mail address so that all incoming data is sent to a chosen receiver. The administrator is able to view all form submissions through the form data tool, which supports export formats for word or spreadsheet programs.
WebPublish has built-in style templates that dictate the formatting of headings, text and links. This means that all pages that use the same style template will have the same text formatting and thus look the same, regardless of who edits them. This means that many people can share the work but that the design will still be the same.
The administrator can create several style templates to be used on various pages, for instance to call attention to news or other types of important information. The administrator creates the necessary style templates and they are then chosen on a page-by-page basis.
