Administrating objects in EZbooking

A well-structured object administration makes it easy for users to find and book available objects.

What is an object?

Object administration - Click to enlarge imageAn object is anything that is bookable and can be a car, a person, a flat or a microscope. It is up to the organization to decide what should be classified as an object.

Only four fields are compulsory when adding an object to the EZbooking system, but if required the object description can be made infinitely detailed. The compulsory fields are object name, category, level of authorization required and whether the object should be shown to unauthorized users. Information such as an address, the name of who is responsible for the object, rental prices, images and object descriptions is optional. It is possible to add the email address for the person in charge of the object, thus making it possible for users to send messages to him or her directly from the booking window.

What is a category?

A category does not need to consist of a set type of goods or objects. It may just as well be a unit as for instance a property (making the objects in this category items that are bookable in this property). You are free to decide which definition of the term “category” works best for your organization.

Structuring the objects

The booking process will be greatly simplified if the system is well-structured. By organizing the objects into numerous categories, you can make sure that it is easy for users to get an overview of all available objects. It is good to think through the structure of the objects even if at first only a small number of objects are available for booking in the system. Many organizations find more and more areas for use for the program and a well-structured system is a great help in achieving this.
